William Joseph Baughn Profile Photo
William (Will) Joseph Baughn passed away at his home on August 2, 2024, at the age of 67. He retired from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department after 28 years of service. He was a member of FOP and PBA. He loved being surrounded by his plants and it made him happy to sit on his porch looking at the plants and birds. He was an avid reader and studied many interesting subjects. He played guitar and enjoyed listening to his record collection. He was an exceptional artist and painting was his favorite art form. The greatest love he had was for his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Melba Baughn. He is survived by his daughter, Erin Parker (Matt), sisters Pat Whatley (Jock), Dinah Helton (Roland), Kim Baughn, and Lisa Baughn, grandchildren Norah Parker, Aiden Parker, and Sadie Parker, nieces and nephews Cleve Whatley, Leigh Ann Huguley, Joelyn Goodman, and Roland Helton, Jr., and close cousins Frank and Mavis Camper. He leaves behind many good friends and neighbors that he considered brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to his hospice nurse Yveau Auguste for his care and kindness. "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die...a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4) William had been in a wheelchair for several years but never lost his sense of humor or spirit. When asked how he was doing he would always smile and say, "I'm a happy guy." We know that when he left this earth he went laughing and dancing into the next life. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Fritz Harter officiating.
