Wayne Delano Stone

Wayne Stone, 82 of Pleasant Grove, Alabama passed away July 4, 2023. Wayne had a servants heart. He loved God, family, friends and his church. He attended the Pleasant Grove Church of God for decades where he served in various positions over the years. From Pastors counsel, church clerk, SS superintendent, to janitor, yard man, or anything that needed to be done. He loved sports! On Saturdays, in the Fall, you could find him watching football of his favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. RTR! When Spring came around it's Alabama girls softball and NASCAR. He enjoyed traveling with his friends and family in his younger years, but never was too old to take a trip to Pigeon Forge to enjoy his passion of antique cars and shows like "Shades of the Past". He was a career mechanic and retired from Alabama Power Company, but continued to work and offer advice for anyone who may need help with a vehicle. He was an avid member of the Pleasant Grove ROMEO Club aka Retired Old Men Eating Out! He was the pillar of our family and all those we call family. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Ollie Joe Stone; mother, Tiney Stone; son-in-laws, Jeff King and Keith Gunter. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Porter Stone; daughters, Cynthia Stone King, Sherry Stone Gunter; grandchildren, Bethany Herrera (Chuck), Jared King (Jessica), Austin Gunter, Maranda Acreman (Keith), Carla Fahnestock (John); and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jared King, Austin Gunter, Chuck Herrera, Keith Acreman, Jeff Lankford, Ethan Herrera. Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2023 from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM at Patterson- Forest Grove Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ken Andrews and Rev. Larry Turner officiating.
