Virdy "Irene' Dabbs

Virdy 'Irene" (Shaw) Dabbs of Bessemer, Alabama passed away at the age of 89. She was born on March 5, 1934 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She left this world on Monday, February 19, 2024 to go to her heavenly home to be with Jesus.
Irene met her husband at the Army/Navy Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas and later moved to Florida, Ohio, California and then to Huntsville, Alabama, eventually settling in Bessemer, Alabama.
Irene was a member of Eastern Valley Baptist Church in Bessemer. John 11:25-26 were among Irene's favorite Bible verses.
Irene served as a hair dresser in the Bessemer area for 27 years. She worked at Alabama Barber and Style Shop up until she retired. Irene thoroughly enjoyed her work and looked forward to seeing her many friends and customers on a daily basis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Llewellyn and Liddie Mae Shaw of Benton, Arkansas, husband, Curtis Jackson Dabbs, siblings, Margret Shaw (Tittle) of Benton, Arkansas, Pauline Shaw of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother, Gilbert Shaw of Pittsfield, Illinois, brother, Odie Shaw of Benton, Arkansas, brother, Ruey Shaw of Hot Springs, Arkansas, sisters, Bernice Shaw of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Theola Shaw of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Doris Shaw of Florida.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel David Shaw, sons, Brian Dabbs (Kim) and Burton Dabbs, grandchildren, Rachael Dabbs Lynn (Paul), Daniel Dabbs, Nicole Lawley (Daniel), Zachary Lawley (Anna) all of Bessemer, great grandchildren, Haydan Jones .Allie Jones, Hunter Lawley, Nova Lawley, Parker Harris, Abagail Lynn, Hudson Lynn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Hamaker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens.
