Travis Leon Vernon

Travis Leon Vernon, of Bessemer, passed away on March 1, 2021 at the age of 80. He was a PFC in the Marines and a Sgt 1C in the Army where he served doing 3 tours in Vietnam. He was decorated with a Purple Heart, 4 Bronze Stars, 1 Air Metal, 4 Vietnamese Cross of Galantry, and 1 Veteran's Metal of Honor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Edith Vernon; brother, Cecil W. Vernon; and daughter, Vicki Lynn Vernon Harless. He is survived by his son, Travis Leon Vernon, II; daughter, Suzanne Todd Vernon; grandchildren, Ashley Dale Cordes, Casey Gail Culver, Madison Nicole Vernon, Samuel Vernon; great grandchildren, Wyatt Cordes, Jesse Cordes, Michael Carrier and Bailey Carrier; sister, Mary Sue Wolfe (James); and many other relatives and friends. No services are planned at this time.
