Thomas Powell Abernathy

Thomas Powell Abernathy, 91 of Bessemer, AL, passed away April 2, 2024. He retired from the US Army and the State of Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas N. Abernathy and Jean Powell Abernathy; wife, Teruko Kojma Abernathy after more than 50 years; brother, Freddy Lee Abernathy; two half-sisters, Jeanne Clarice Moyer and Clara Mae Steele. He is survived by his sister, Mary Alice Meyer and sister-in-law, Yaeko Yasui; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 1:00 PM until the start of funeral service at 2:00 PM at Bible Comes To Life in Adger. Interment will be in Patterson-Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Phillip Hill officiating.
