Roland Earl Armstrong

Roland Earl Armstrong, age 92, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his son, John Armstrong (Debra); daughters, Doris Robertson (Gary) and Nelma Armstrong; grandchildren, John, Nathan, and Nicholas Robertson, and Kayla Davis (Shawn); and great-granddaughter, Oakley Davis; sister, Mary Wheatley. Roland and his wife Dorthie owned Barons Men’s Store in downtown Bessemer for forty-two years, and he was a faithful member of Jefferson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church for seventy-five years. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Baron” and “Poppa.” The funeral will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 5:00 PM. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM. The service will be conducted by Rev. William Pritchett, Rev. Nathaniel Ravizee, and Rev. Dewey Wilhite.
