Richard "Rick" Emory Wheeler Jr

Richard Emory "Rick" Wheeler, Jr., age 53, of Fayette passed away March 14, 2025 in Birmingham after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born in Birmingham on March 31, 1971 to Richard E. "Dicky" and Jan Sherron Wheeler. Other survivors include his sons; Joshua Lee (Jen), Hunter Allen and Garrett William; siblings; LaNaye Burnette (Mike) and Cheryl Sharp (Steve); grandchildren, Ella, Janelle, Malcolm, Nolan, Salem and Halyn. Nieces and nephews; Andrea Miller (Dave), Megan Hallam (Tucker), Lauren Blauvelt (Aaron), Shae Cooper and Ryan Burnette.
Rick is predeceased by his grandparents, Wilson and Allene Wheeler, W.W. and Evelyn Sherron, niece Courtney Burnette. Rick proudly served our country in the United States Army and the United States Airforce.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Steve and Ruth Yancey and their entire family for their unwavering support and generosity during this difficult journey. Their kindness in opening their home and their hearts made his transition as smooth as possible, providing comfort and peace when it was needed most. Words cannot fully express our appreciation for the love and care they have shown—going above and beyond in ways we could never have imagined. It is truly an honor to call them family, and we will be forever grateful for their compassion and support.
