Richard Delbert "Pop" Rayburn, of Sterrett, Alabama, passed away March 22, 2024 at the age of 94. He was a veteran of the US Army. Richard retired from US Steel after 42 years of service as a Production Planning Manager. He attended First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove for many years and had a strong Christian Faith. Richard loved all University of Alabama sports. He was also a member of a local Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Myrtle Rayburn; wife of more than 70 years, Betty Freeman Rayburn; siblings, Woodrow Harris, Sybil Mason, Milton Rayburn, Clarence Rayburn, Jewel Epperson and Jacqueline Epperson. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Rayburn Dabbs (Kenneth), Paige Rayburn Price (Wayne); son, Richard D. Rayburn, II (Karen); niece, Diane Short (Pete); grandchildren, Mandy Lantrip, Adam Seagrest, Peyton Foshee, Trey Rayburn (Christian) and Zach Rayburn; great-grandchildren, Coleman Lantrip, Byars Lantrip, Ella Foshee and Wyatt Lantrip; and many other relatives and friends. The family extends great appreciation to Tonia Mizzell, Leigh Ann Thomas, Darryl Wood, Sherita Scott and Lakeside Hospice for their care during this difficult time.
Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 2:00 PM in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Brother Joel Frederick officiating.
