Pauline Louise Thomas

Pauline Louise Thomas (Polly), 93 years old, went to be with the Lord, June 6, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born to Clarence and Lorraine Knopp, July 19, 1927, in Jasper, Alabama. She was raised in a Christian home and attended the Church of Christ. Polly graduated from Carbon Hill High School in 1946. She married the late Wilford Jay Thomas in 1947, and they lived together in Birmingham, Alabama for 62 years. She was preceded in death by loving husband Jay, first grandson Wayne, parents Clarence and Lorraine, one brother Bill, and two sisters, Mary and Rudell. Polly is survived by her five children: Cheryl Capps, Janice Porter (Mike), Joy Eiermann (Tuggy), Jay Thomas (Andrea), Jayne Hathcock (Lee); eleven grandchildren: Rachel Mason, Nathan Capps, Byron Capps, Scott Porter, Leslie Payne, Ryan Eiermann, Heather Kubeczka, Emilee Bruce, Hayden Hathcock, Brady Thomas, Ivey Thomas; thirty great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and one sister Delores Kersh. Polly worked at Western Union for 24 years while raising a family. She was very patriotic and dedicated many hours of service for her Country, serving as a nurse’s aide through the Red Cross during WWII. She loved being outdoors gardening, her birds, walking the beach, and traveling. She was a wonderful mother, Memaw, and Me-Me who cherished time spent with her family and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived a full life and all who knew her, loved her. Please join us in a celebration of life on Saturday, June 12 at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, 1498 5th Avenue, Pleasant Grove, AL 35727. Visitation held 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with funeral at 1:00 pm. Rev. Billy Abrams officiating. Pallbearers: Scott Porter, Ryan Eiermann, Nathan Capps, Hayden Hathcock, Brady Thomas, and Lee Hathcock.
