Ninnian A Mcclain

Ninnian Augustus McClain of Rock Creek, Alabama, passed away on October 17th, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born May 9, 1938, in Jefferson County, Alabama to the late Fredrick Augustus McClain and Bernice (Hayes) McClain. He graduated from Hueytown High School and later served in the United States Navy. He was an avid runner and worked for the City of Birmingham as a shop foreman for many years prior to his retirement. Ninnian served in various roles during his life, but he was most proud to be father to his children and "Papaw" to his many grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was a longtime member of Rock Creek Church of God. He leaves a legacy as a humble servant of the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mickey, Ann (Vines) McClain, son Christopher Augustus McClain, ex-wife Rita Syx McClain Salter, daughter Rita Renee McClain, sister Dorothy Annette McClain Syx, and sister Avon McClain Connelly.
He is survived by his sons Mark McClain and Kenneth McClain (Hannah); grandchildren
Kate McClain, Chapel McClain, Harper McClain, Hayes McClain, Grant McClain and Tyler McClain; grandchild Christy Folker and great-grandchild Felicia Reid; brother-in-law Bud Connelly; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

A memorial service with friends and family will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Rock Creek Church of God, 1001 Park Rd., Bessemer, AL 35023, with Jonathon
Absher officiating.
