Mary Polly Rainey

Mary Polly Rainey, 93, of Hueytown, passed away on August 29th, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life. Mary was born on March 4,1931, in Oakman, Alabama. Mary married Samuel Marlin Rainey on April 4, 1949. During their 50 years of marriage, they had three children: Merilee Ann, Samuel L “Butch” and Dwight Anthony. Mary enjoyed spending her time with her grandkids, reading the Mule Trader and Thrifty Nickel, going to the thrift stores to see what treasures she could find and collecting dolls, especially Shirley Temple, Elvis and Barbie. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Prince and Nevie Dunn, her sisters,
Sarah and Rachel, her brothers Clester, Charlie, Harve, Hue, Lewis, Will and Bud, her daughter Ann and her son Dwight. She is survived by her children: Samuel “Butch” Rainey (Sharon), her grandchildren: Michelle Cook Nicholson (Larry), Miranda Morgan (Jeremy), 3 Great-Grandchildren Justin Cook (Nicole), Cody Cook (Peyton) and Gracie Morgan, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Madelyn Ann and Westyn Alan and one little bundle of joy on the way. We would also like to thank nurses, social worker and Brittney, her aid from Compassus Hospice. Services will be held graveside Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Cedar Hill
