Mrs. Mary E. Poer, age 84, of Sylvan Springs, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home on October 7, 2024. Mrs. Poer was born October 7, 15, 1939 to the late William Porter and Eola White Gallups. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jason Poer; her sons, Douglas Jeffery Poer and infant sons, John Timothy and Gerald Eugene Poer; sisters, Doris Varner (Bill), Margaret Robinson (Ronald), Kathleen Parker (Red); brothers, Ordice Gallups (Margaret), Harlan Gallups (Marianne), Coy Gallups (Bobbie); sister in law, Joyce Gallups.
Survivors include her sons, Roger Poer (Renae), Michael Poer (Angel), Christopher Poer; sister, Christine Poer (Woodrow); brother, William “Buddy” Gallups; grandchildren, Shane (April), Jason (Desiree), Adam, Lindsey, Natalie (Elex), Blake (Abbey),Elijah, Eden and Ezekial’ great grandchildren, Caleb, Max, HaleyGrace and another great grandchild expected soon.
Celebration of Life funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Church of The Nazarene beginning at 1:00 PM with Bro. Bruce Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer.
Mrs. Poer worker for more than 35 years for South Central Bell, BellSouth and finally AT&T before her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Church of The Nazarene and enjoyed spending time with her family.
