Marilyn Ramona Pitesa

Marilyn Ramona Neal Pitesa was born in McComas, West Virginia on January 23, 1930. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by Dale Pitesa, her husband of over 51 years before his passing in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William H. Neal and Iva Mae Kennedy, and sons-in-law, Bob Richards and Michael Edwards. Ramona graduated from Concord College and was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She taught music in Hueytown schools for several years before electing to spend time with her family. She loved being outdoors and was a Girl Scout leader. She was an active member in St Aloysius Catholic Church in Bessemer for almost 70 years and was a member of the altar guild. She loved flowers and participating in local Garden Club activities. She was an avid reader and enjoyed huge family dinners at home. She loved life, the beauty of nature, and traveling. Ramona was a loving wife, mother, Granny, Great Granny, and friend to many. She is survived by her children, Beth Richards, Debbie (Jeff) Burks, Bill (Cindy) Pitesa, Cathy (Tim) Armstrong, and Sharon Edwards; grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Mitchell, PhD, Michele (Casey Causey) Brown, and Karen (Chris Heacock) Burks, DVM; 8 great grandchildren; and her friends that she loved like family. Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, 12:30PM-1:30PM with the funeral service beginning at 1:30PM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery Forest Grove Memorial Gardens.
