Marie Sherrell "Sherry" Voketz, age 70, of McCalla passed away at her residence Sunday, November 17, 2024. Sherry was born May 28, 1954 in Mississippi to the late BJ and Hilda Grace Turner. She retired after 25 years as a bank teller and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, she recently had attended Canaan Baptist Church of Bessemer. Sherry loved gardening, canning, sewing and taking care of her beloved pets. She enjoyed playing games, especially cornhole, and camping. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Voketz; daughters, Amanda Forsythe (Joel) and Amy Briscoe (Matt); son, Chris Martin (Kendra); grandchildren, Austin Whited, Melissa Martin, Kaitlyn Whited, Hailey Whited Averi Martin and 5 great grandchildren. Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, BJ and Hilda Grace Turner and her sisters; Arlene Adams and Melonie Turner.
