Linda Sue Howard Chadwick, of Cottondale, Alabama, was born on September 16, 1948, to Elzie and Lucille (Nevin) Howard. On March 26, 2025, she met her Savior face to face, and she was reunited with her parents, her husband, Mike Chadwick, her beloved daughter, Jessica Dixon, her brother and sister, Tommy and Judy Howard, and her sister-in-law, Pam Howard. Survivors include her son, Jeremy (Beth) Elam; brother, Ronnie Howard; grandchildren Jaclyn (Becker) Bullard, Brock, Brent, Julie, Bryant, and Jenna Elam; great-grandchildren Lily, Brice, and Morgan Elam and Mathis, Rowan, and Phoebe Bullard; and a niece, nephews, and cousins.
Sue graduated from Holt High School in 1966. Shortly after high school, she worked at Gulf States Paper Corporation. During this time, Sue had an opportunity to represent her employer in a beauty contest and was named runner-up for “Miss Labor Day.” Later, when her children were teenagers in the 1990s, she operated an interior design business in Chattanooga, TN, decorating several commercial businesses and a hotel in the area. Sue worked as a caregiver for the elderly, a salesperson for Parisian, and a paraprofessional at Cottondale Elementary School. She had a green thumb and worked hard to improve her backyard with various plants and a small Koi fishpond. She was also a fantastic cook. Her grandchildren will attest to the fact that no one has ever made a better pan of macaroni and cheese or a better Italian Crème Cake than their grandmother did.
Visitation will be at 1 PM on Saturday, March 26, at Bible Baptist Church, 200 Bear Creek Rd, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Reverend Phillip Blackwell, Sue’s pastor, will officiate the 2 PM service. A private interment will be on Wednesday, April 2, at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Al
The family would like to thank the wonderful associates at ACG Hospice and Hunter Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, who helped make Sue’s final days as pleasant as possible. Their kindness will always be remembered.
