Karen M Hunt

Karen M. Hunt, 64 of Dora, Alabama passed away April 17, 2023. She was born to Ima Jean and Paul Martin on April 12, 1959. At age nine, she was one of the first patients to undergo successful open heart surgery by Dr. Kirkland. Karen attended Minor High School and married Michael Argo while still a student. They had three children. A long-time resident of McDonald Chapel, she was known as "The Neighborhood Mom." Karen loved children and they loved her; many will remember her from her years of service in the lunchroom at Minor Junior School. She later married Wayne Hunt and loved his three children as her own. Most recently, she delighted in her grandchildren, who called her KK. There was never a dull moment around Karen, thanks to her sparkling and hilarious sense of humor. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of Katherwood Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Martin; mother, Ima Jean Martin; husband, Wayne Hunt; son, Michael Argo Jr.; stepson, Greg Hunt; brothers, Norman Martin, Charles Martin. She is survived by her son, Matthew Argo; stepson, Geoff Hunt (Jennifer); daughter, Michelle Dillard (Freddy); stepdaughter, Amy Vernon; sisters, Katie Atkinson (Jim), Paula Walker; 8 amazing grandchildren; 2 wonderful great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a special group of friends who have been together since first grade. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2023, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Dr. Randy Atkinson officiating.
