James (Jim) Harry Waldrop, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024. He was born on March 17, 1942 and grew up in Fairfield Highlands and lived in Hueytown, Alabama for his adult life. Jim was a graduate of the University of Alabama in 1967 and he completed his MBA from Samford University in 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents James Harry Waldrop Sr. and Nell Howard Waldrop, brother Robert (Bob) Waldrop and niece, Melody Echols. Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Curtis Laine (Holley) Waldrop, his two daughters Briana Bradford (Randy Bradford) and Drenna Waldrop, four grandsons, Jonathan Bradford (Javee), Tyler Bradford (Kristin), Eddie Valverde, Diego Valverde, and four great-grandchildren, Wells Henry Bradford, Olivia Bradford, Maeve Bradford, and Lyle Bradford, sister-in-law Sandy Waldrop and niece Celeste Cook (Jeff).

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest fishing and hunting and enjoying life on the Warrior river. But on Saturdays in the fall, he was watching Alabama football and yelling Roll Tide out the back door. With age, Jim’s hobbies shifted to teaching himself how to play steel guitar and building remote control WWII airplanes. Although his declining health further limited him in his final years, he gained new family in his loving care providers Donnetta, Chanel, and Dana.

Jim was a member of North Highlands Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gideon’s International or Big Oak Ranch can be sent.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home one hour prior to services.
