James Samuel "Sam" Doss

James Samuel "Sam" Doss, 79 of Hueytown, AL passed away on July 30, 2021.
Sam was a lifelong resident of Bessemer before living in Hueytown.
Sam graduated Bessemer High School in 1960 and served in the Air Force overseas in the early 60's. He raised three boys and coached many little league teams for them while they were growing up. Among Sam's many hobbies and adventures were dancing, raising bird dogs, hunting and fishing. Sam enjoyed visiting family and friends and was always quick with a story from "the old days".
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Dollie May and by sisters, Barbara, Peggy, Alice and Patsy and brothers, Jack, Billy and Eddie Bo.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Mary Alyce Humphries Doss and family and also survived by sons, Sam II (Tina), Allen (Dee), Barry (Tina); sister, Brenda LaRussa (Andy); brother, Mike Doss (Cindy); grandchildren, Zach, Toni, Bailey, Macayla, Noah and one great grandchild, Sunny Grace.
Visitation will be Friday, August 6, 2021 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Pavilion at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. Bro. Bob Webber officiating.
