Homer Hyde, Jr, 80, of Stuart, Fl. passed away August 6, 2017 in Hospice care. Born in Dora, Al. on March 08,1937, to Homer V. Hyde Sr, a Baptist preacher and Flora Hyde (Boshell). He was the youngest of 6 children. He had 4 sisters and 1 brother all deceased.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Dorothy Hyde (Grace), Children; Daughters Sabrina Hyde, wife, Tamela Skinner-Hyde, 2 grandchildren, Jeanna Townsend, 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, Cynthia and Michael Dueitt, 2 grandchildren. Son Alan Hood husband Tony Gortney. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends.
Homer served his country for 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received a Bronze Star, many awards and decorations during his enlistment.
He and Dot loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He loved to fish and Alabama Crimson Tide Football. His kindness and generosity will be missed. He was a member of Salerno Southern Methodist Church.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 AM at Patterson-Forest Grove with burial to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. David L. Nuckels officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
