On Monday, November 6, 2023, Geraldine (Jerri) Lowery Howell, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away at the age of 91.
Jerri was born on April 19, 1932 in Birmingham, AL to James Wilson and Inez Mitchell Lowery . She grew up in the Birmingham area and attended West End High School. Jerri was a lifelong sports enthusiast. She played softball and tennis in high school. She was for many years involved in a women’s bowling league at Holiday Bowl in Bessemer, AL. In her sixties, as a daycare teacher, she loved to roller skate with her 4-year old students. Jerri loved to watch football, baseball and gymnastics on television. She was a big Alabama Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves fan throughout her life. She was an accomplished fisherman. She and her husband, Buddy, spent many happy days fishing on the Coosa River. After Buddy’s death in 2016, Jerri moved to her home in Clanton, AL. She found a welcoming church home at First Baptist of Clanton and loved worshiping her Lord and Savior there.
Surviving family: Daughters: Deborah Ingram (Ron) and Pamela Vines (Marty), Grandchildren: Peyton Diliberto (Chris), Paige Breland (Jeremy), Noel Conway (Donald), Eric Glass and Tyler Glass (Marie), Great Grandchildren: Marlee Diliberto, Adalyn Diliberto, Melissa Glass, Peyton Glass, Austin Glass, Hayley Conway and Emery Conway, Brother: Thomas Lowery.
Jerri is preceded in death by her husband, James (Buddy) Howell, her daughter, Sharon Garland Harrison, and her brothers, James Lowery and Joe Lowery.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on November 9, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211
