Fred Marlon Deaton, 83 passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones in Fairhope, Alabama. Fred was born September 21, 1938 in Chapman, AL; previously of Hueytown and Pleasant Grove, AL. He retired from Southern Hydraulics after 52 years of service.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a man of few words, quiet determination, life long devotion to God and service to family. He was a member of Fairhope Ave Baptist Church, previously Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove and Pike Ave Baptist in Ensley. He was a graduate of Ensley High School and Birmingham Southern College. He served in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dean Deaton; son, Andy Deaton; son -in-law, Jeff Gordon; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Deaton.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of 44 years; his children, Scott Deaton; Jennifer (Ron) Carstens, Amy Gordon, and Adam Deaton; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ann (Jim) Clark and brother Jerry (Shelby) Deaton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the stateroom of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 16, 2002 at 12 noon at Patterson-Forest Grove Memorial Gardens., son, Scott Deaton officiating.
