Doris Jean Wesson

Doris Jean Wesson, age 90, of Pleasant Grove passed away December 21, 2024 at Fairhaven Nursing Home. Doris was born August 4, 1934 to the late Luther and Myrtie Poe Shirley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, David Wesson; son, Kenneth "Bo" Wesson, sister, Shelby Cross and brother Larry Odom.
Mrs. Wesson is survived by her children, Donna (Johnny) Whitley, Barry Wesson (Gary Sullivan) and Bryan Wesson (Bobby Bowdon), grandsons, Eric, Kevin and David Whitley, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Doris worked for many years for Independent Life Insurance Company as a Claim Representative, she was a former member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Doris loved Southern Gospel music and especially Vestal Goodman and The Happy Goodman Family.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens, 1498 5th Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Al 35127. The family will receive friends at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM.
