Cynthia Anette Smith Sawyer

69, of Pleasant Grove went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 14 ,2018. After a gallant battle with Alzheimers, Cindy was preceded in death by her loving parents, James D. "Hot" Smith and Frances Mashburn Smith. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stephen L Sawyer and her loving son, Stephen David Sawyer, in addition to two brothers, Timothy D. Smith (Lynn Dabbs Wallace) and Gregory Scott Smith (Dana Woody) and six nieces and nephews. Cindy was raised in Fairfield Highlands and was a member of the Girl Scouts of America. She graduated from Hueytown High school in 1967 and earned an associates degree of Arts from Jefferson State Junior College in 1969. She worked her entire career in the financial industry. Cindy loved her husband and son with all her heart. She loved taking trips to the beach and seeing her many life long friends throughout her life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with service beginning at 11:00 AM and burial to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastors Jim Maples and Andy Bunn officiating. Family wishes to extend their love to Holly Bell, Diane Caver and Deven Williams of Oasis Hospice - Angels for helping us get Cindy Glory Bound. To honor Cindy, the family requests that any memorials be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and/or Emmanuel Free Methodist Church (McCalla).
