Christine Marcum Gill, 51, of Concord, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at UAB Medical West surrounded by her family after a two-year battle with cancer. Christine Marcum Gill (known as Chris) was born on February 6, 1973, at Brookwood Medical Center. She was the first of two children born to Charles and Wanda Marcum. Chris went to school at Bessemer Academy before continuing her education at the University of Montevallo. She was a dedicated employee at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama throughout her career.
When she was twenty-two years old, she married Jerry Alan Gill of Sylvan Springs, Alabama. They had two children, Alana and Brody. They made their permanent home in Rock Creek, Alabama. Chris made the most important decision of her life on December 1, 1986, by giving her life to Christ. She was first and foremost a child of God and a daughter of the King. She was a faithful Christian, a selfless wife, and mother, a loyal daughter, sister, and friend.
To know Chris was to see Christ within her. Even throughout her battle with cancer, she thought of others and desired to be with her spiritual family. She strived to prepare others for her departure through her strength in Christ. She often reminded others that the only way through this life was with God. Speaking to friends and family she said, “I do not understand how people without God deal with the troubles of life.” This was because Chris did not know life without God. She prepared each day to meet her Creator. Her family and friends take comfort in her eternal reward.
She is survived by her parents Charles and Wanda Marcum of Concord, her brother, Greg Marcum, her husband, Alan Gill, her children Alana Gill and Brody Gill, and her nieces Sydney Morrison (Austin) and Bayley Maddox.
