Rev. Charles Kristen “PK” McGarity, age 47, of Northport , AL entered into his eternal reward on January 7, 2025. Kristen graduated from Tuscaloosa Christian School in 1996, then attended Lee University. While attending Lee University he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and a Masters in Counseling. He was a charter member of Tau Kappa Omega.
Kristen served as the Administrative and Student Pastor at Northport Church of God since 2011. It was his passion to see teenagers grow in their relationship with Christ and truly grasp what it means to be a Christ-follower. He also served as the Chaplain for the Northport Fire and Rescue. Prior to coming to Northport, he served as Student Pastor at Coastal Cathedral in Savannah, GA and Dillon Church of God in Dillon, SC. He also served on the Church of God State Youth Board for South Carolina.
Kristen is survived by his wife of 21 years Michelle Hall McGarity and his three precious children; Coley, Cason, and Charlee McGarity. He is also survived by his father Rev. Hugh (Vickie) McGarity, sister Beth Ann (Kevin) Mills, niece and nephew Landon and Brynnlee Mills; sister Shelly (Ty) Brewster, niece and nephew Alyssa and Carson Brewster; mother-in-law Cindy Griffin; father-in-law Donnie (Kim) Hall; brother-in-law Chris (Katie) Hall, nephews Chase and Andrew Hall; brother-in-law Andy (Halie) Hall, nieces and nephews Anslee, Addison, and Lane Thomas; brother-in-law Timothy Griffin, niece Esther Griffin.
Preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Ann McGarity; grandparents George McGarity Sr., Vivian McGarity, and Jean McGarity.
We will celebrate the life of Kristen on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Northport Church of God. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a service to honor his memory at 2:00 p.m.
