It is with great sadness, we share the passing of our beloved father, Charles Terry Langley, Sr. who left us on March 7, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 4, 1945, in Jackson, Alabama, he lived a life defined by faith, love, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Terry was a devoted member of West Concord Church of Christ for over 40 years and had faithfully served as an Elder since 2018. A proud United States Marine, he served in the Vietnam War before building a career as a coal miner. He later worked as a mining inspector and retired from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) in 2008.
His love for the Lord, his devoted wife, Charlotte, of 59 years, and the family they built together was the foundation of his life. He was the rock of his family, always making the impossible seem possible. He had a gift for finding light in the darkest moments and could effortlessly bring a smile to anyone’s face. Known for his firm handshake with the signature pull-in, he never met a stranger, and everyone who knew him loved him.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, James Wiley and Beaulah Gazell Langley, and his siblings, James Larry, Syble Juanita, Kenneth Wayne (Cooney), and Michael Gene.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte, who stood by his side through every chapter of life. Together, they built a beautiful family. Their daughter, Donna, and her husband, Jake Carr, along with their children, Benjamin (BJ) and his wife, Haley, and their daughter, Olivia; Meghan and her husband, Zaccary Patterson, and their daughter, Charlotte. His son, Charles T. Langley Jr. (Chuck), and his wife, Angela, along with their children, Lauren and her husband, Adam Carter, and their son, John David; Landon and his wife, Reagan, with their children, Kason, Rylynn, and Saylor. His youngest son, Robert Sr., and his wife, Shellie, along with their children, Robert L. Langley Jr. and Rebekah and her husband, Jerry Haywood, with their children, Emma, Greyson, and Henry. Terry is also survived by his sister Kay Langley along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved so very much.
Charles was a pillar of strength and wisdom for his family, always offering guidance and support. His legacy of love and devotion will live on through the generations he leaves behind.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at Patterson’s Forest Grove Funeral Home, Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the start of service, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to West Concord Church of Christ or Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his honor.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished.
