Billy Darrell Goodwin, age 82, of the Hendrix Community passed away at his residence Saturday, April 19, 2025. Billy was born June 22, 1942 in Fairfield to the late Harry and Ezma Ganus Goodwin. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Chappell; granddaughter, Faith Goodwin and brother, Maxie Goodwin.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sharon Watts Goodwin; daughter, Tabitha Bailey (Mark); son, Shane Goodwin (Lori) and Scott Goodwin (Tracy Tindall); sister, Charlotte Anderton; grandchildren, Jonathon Chappell, Kristina Marcus, Gabe Goodwin, Courtney Bailey, Clay Bailey and Austin Goodwin; great grandchildren, Xavier Marcus, Dominic Marcus, Merida Marcus and Zander Marcus; Nieces, Deborah Belding and Sonya Sturgill; nephews, Jason Godwin, Aaron Goodwin and Max Goodwin.
Billy loved and collected all things Alabama along with many different types of pocket knives. He retired after 22 years from Adamsville Police Department as a dispatcher. He loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Lemley Funeral Home, 6878 2nd Avenue West, Oneonta, Al 35121. The family will receive friends at Lemley Funeral Home from 12:00 PM -1:00 PM with Bro. Chris Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery at Hendrix Missionary Baptist Church, 18198 County Hwy 26, Oneonta, Al 35121.
