Beverly Staggs

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Beverly Ann Staggs of Thorsby, Alabama passed away at the age of 64. She was surrounded by family and loved ones when she left peacefully at St. Vincent’s Birmingham. Beverly, also known as “Buffy” and “Nana”, was born on January 22, 1958 to Jack and Janice Bowlin in Bessemer, Alabama. She later spent her childhood in Georgia before moving back to Alabama. There, she met her husband James Robert “Buddy” Staggs, whom she married on January 23, 1990. Together, they raised their sons and watched their family grow. Buffy had a passion for crafting and a love of cooking. If she wasn’t painting away at décor and signs for friends, she was making fried cabbage and lima beans for her grandchildren. Anyone in the family would tell you her peanut butter balls and other desserts were delicious, too. Above all else, however, Beverly loved her family, and she loved Jesus. She never missed church, and when she wasn’t serving as the church secretary or working with the women’s ministry, she was spending time with her family. Beverly is preceded in death by her father, Jack Bowlin, and her son, Jeffrey Hunt. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Staggs; her mother Janice (Randall) Strickland; sons Lee (Ashley) Hunt and Brandon Hunt; step-sons Lee (Donna) Staggs and Jason (Carrie) Staggs; grandchildren, Chloe (Chance) Hunt, Caleb Hunt, Zac Cleckler, Hunter Cleckler, Harper Hunt, Aaden Ellison, and Austin Hunt; siblings Sherry (Thomas) Blagg, Travis (Sherry) Bowlin, and James (Carol) Bowlin; nieces Maegan (Hagen) Hinote, Kerry (Aaron) Morris, and Tabitha (Cody) Goolsby; nephews Chris (Kristin) Bowlin, Nathan (Kayla) Bowlin, Shane Bowlin, Brad Bowlin, and Luke Bowlin; Uncles Bruce (Sharon) Patterson, and Ray Bowlin. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10 AM with the funeral service at 11 AM. This will be held at New Harmony Holiness Church, 779 County Road 34, Clanton, Alabama 35045. Burial will follow at Patterson- Forest Grove Funeral Home, 1498 5th Ave, Pleasant Grove, Alabama 35127.
