Willard C. Plunkett
of Birmingham, Alabama, died on July 4, 2010, at the age of 88 years. He was born May 14, 1922, to Willie and Ellie Plunkett, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lois B. Plunkett.
Willard is survived by his daughter, Sundra D. Plunkett; brothers, Robert L. (Nan) Plunkett and Harlan Plunkett ; sisters, Kathryn (Lawton) Kendrick , and Bernice (Fred) Short; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the headquarters Company 2nd Battalion 534th Engineers - Boat and Shore - Regiment in the South Pacific and Japan. He retired from Deaton Truck Lines after driving in excess of three million miles.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. The funeral will be on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., in the Chapel at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, with graveside service and burial at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper, Alabama, Rev. Billy Hunt officiating.

We will miss you Willard. you were always so very kind to us, and we enjoyed our visits at the EBSR reunions. Our sympathy goes out to you Sundra and we feel the loss deeply.
We will miss Willard ..... we enjoyed talking with him and remembering old friends ...... he was always happy and cheerful .....what a nice man. Think of him smiling, Sundra .... he loved you so.
My dad was in the 534th EBSR and often talked about Mr. Plunkett. Please accept my condolences for your loss.
