Clarence V. "Buck" Turner
Buck Turner passed away peacefully on 4/19/2014 at the age of 85. He lived a long, colorful, eventful and blessed life. Born and raised on Lake Martin, he later moved to Birmingham and gained employment at US Steel (TCI- Tin Mill) from where he retired after 30 yrs. He also served in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his sons; Rick Turner (Becky) and Richard Turner (Tuesday). Daughters; Paula Hyche (David) and Jackie Stitzel (Jerry). His "Baby Sis" Sue Moody of Wetumpka. He was a wonderful Papa to 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Buck is preceded in death by the mother of his children; Dettie McGhee Turner Gentry. He had many friends and interests; the Tide, old coins, square dancing, racing, hockey and digging and collecting old bottles. This was his favorite.Buck was instrumental in the formation of the Warrior River Fire and Rescue, serving on the board until his health forced him to resign a few years ago. He enjoyed his twilight years sitting by the river watching the sun set with his beloved dogs and cats. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Go rest high Buck. Funeral service is on Saturday, 4/26, 2:30 P.M. with a time of visitation from 12;30 until service time at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home . Burial will follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Buck was a valued friend, neighbor and fellow Trustee of the Warrior River Fire District. I extend my sincere condolences to his family and all his many friends knowing that he is resting in peace.
