Nina Katherine Godsey
of Hueytown, went home to be with her Lord on March 12, 2013. She was born June 19, 1936 in Brilliant, AL. She attended Brilliant schools and graduated from Fairfield High School. She was a Godly woman who spent her time in service to her Lord. She taught the Bible and worked with the children of the church, The Assemblies of God, for many years. She was presently attending Pleasant Grove Assembly of God. She was retired from A&P Grocery Co. and Jim Walter Mines. She enjoyed fishing and get togethers with her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Dock Godsey, Sr., and Euline Cotton Godsey; her brothers, Dock, Jr., and Billy Godsey; her sisters, Jimmie Smith and Jane Wood; niece, Debbie Calhoun and nephews, Steve Godsey and Greg Godsey. She is survived by her sisters, Jeraldine Jackson (John)and Helen Wade (Harold); her sister-in-laws, Martha Godsey and Jeannine Godsey; her Aunt, Fay Nell Crumpton; several nieces and nephews; her special daughter, Jaylon Akers (Steve), special grandson, Blake Akers (Lindsey); special great-grandson, Noah Akers; and a host of special friends who were here extended family. Her request is for memorials be made to Sav-A-Life, 1480 McGuire Rd., Birmingham, AL. 35216. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank her doctors and nurses at UAB West for the excellent care and love given to Nina.
