Donald P. Ferrell, Sr.
of Pleasant Grove, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2010 at the age of 80. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, Alabama where he was a member of the choir, "Amazing Grays" and Hand Bells.
Donald was retired from Harbison Walker Refractory of Fairfield. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pleasant Grove. Donald also proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
"Pa Pa" as he was lovingly known is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Martha Stracner Ferrell; son, Donnie (wife Diana); grandsons, Eric (wife Julie), Andy and step grandson, Jeremy (wife Janie) Pullen; great granddaughters, Maci and Morgan. His sisters Louise Black and Glenda (husband JT) Lawrence. His brothers, Norman and Doug (wife Peggy). Sister-in-laws, Bertie Barnes and Lynette Keel; brother-in-law, Frank E. Stracner (wife Violet) and numberous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Rev. Bob Pruitt and Rev. Harold Newberry officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Joshua Program at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, Alabama.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Brookwood Hospital for the care they have provided through the years to Don.
