Virginia Lee Eichhorn

, of Pleasant Grove passed away on September 6, 2012 at the age of 71 amidst her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dolores Roycroft of Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth L. Eichhorn; daughter Susan Eichhorn McGuire (Tim) of Woodstock, GA; sons Thomas Eichhorn (Rhonda) and Erik Eichhorn (Sherri Beth); sister Joyce Roycroft Hughes (Bob) of Pittsburgh, PA. She is the loving grandmother of Daniel, Emily, Gordon, Dawson and Autumn Eichhorn; Megan, Katie and Will McGuire; Sarah and Victoria Stack. She had a very special relationship with her nieces and nephews back home in Pittsburgh. She was a devoted member of McElwain Baptist Church and also attended Bethel Baptist Church. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Ginny came to Birmingham in 1980 with her husband because of his military assignment. During the ensuing years she was employed by the UAB Health System and the Health Services Foundation where she worked as an Administrative Manager for the Department of Surgery, and later as a Human Resources Representative. She received the Circle of Excellence award in 1993 and 1996 for her outstanding performance, dedication, compassion and service. She will be remembered for her generosity and her sweet and loving demeanor. Ginny made a difference in the lives of everyone who knew her. She loved all of God's children, this was her greatest gift given to her by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at McElwain Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at McElwain Baptist Church, with burial in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Leukemia Society or the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care.
