Rev. Edward "Jack" W. Burchfield
, age 87, of Adger, AL, passed away on June 2, 2012. Edward was a World War II Veteran in Pattons Army in Germany in 1943 and a second term in Tokyo for a total of six and a half years of service in the military. He played music and sang on the radio and the army club while in Tokyo called "Jacks Tokyo Ramblers." He was discharged in 1949. He became a radio minister and musician singing on WLPH January 29, 1972 and WSMQ thru 2004, TV ministry in Argo and Hamilton, AL, WGGT Radio. He pastored an Independant church for 21 years, he retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in 1980. He worked as Optician District Manager over many stores in Alabama until giving up in 1986. He ministered in many nursing homes since 1976. Now he is at rest, waiting to meet Jesus in the air when He comes in the clouds. Survivors: wife, Ruby Burchfield; son, Edward W. Burchfield, Jr. "Eddie"; daughters, Patsy B. Hanson, Lisa B. Frye, Traci B. Smart, Esther B. Poston; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Gary W. Smart officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made as a memorial to Rev. Burchfield to Living Bread Ministry 3202 Mud Creek Road Adger, AL 35006. The funds will go toward the land purchase for the future Children's Home.
