E.M. "Gene" Stevens
82 of Hueytown died Jan. 4, 2012. born Sept. 15, 1929, the son of Ross and Mollie Stevens, he was discharged from the U. S. Navy in 1950. He was a member of Oak Grove Masonic Lodge 617 and retired from Birmingham Southern Railroad in 1987 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Hueytown.
He is survived by Laverne Stevens, his loving wife of 61 years; two sons, Bobby S. (Judy) Stevens and Rodney (Kathy) Stevens; one daughter, Susan (Lee) Anthony; all of Hueytown. He was the proud grand-father of six grandchildren, Brad (Alison) Stevens, Mike (Erin) Stevens, Tammy (Michael) Pickens, Samantha (Brandon) Todd, Adam (Jessica) Stevens and Sarah Anthony, along with seven great-grandchildren; survivors also include a sister, Louise Hammonds of Chattanooga, and two brothers, Vernon (Era) Stevens of Talladega Springs and Ray Stevens of Alabaster.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 P.M. on Friday at the Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Sat in the Chapel. Revs. Mike Stevens and Rick Patrick officiating. Burial at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens.
Mr.Gene and Mrs. Laverne touched my life with their love,friendship and especially their kindness,my heart is saddened but the memories of Mr. Gene will last a lifetime...with love from my heart to yours Terri Cox
