Ralph Doles, 82, returned to his heavenly home on November 9, 2016 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Ralph was born to the late Hershell and Hetty Doles on January 2, 1934. He was an entrepreneur from a very early age, selling salve to purchase his first overalls to start school, and as a young lad, raised and sold chickens and rabbits. He found many odd jobs as a teen; working at the Auto Movies and Hickory Hut Bar-B-Q. Following his graduation from Jones Valley High School, he attended Auburn University and later UAB. In 1956, he married a little country girl from McCalla, Dolores Norris. They settled in Hueytown and were blessed with three children. He was a dedicated member of Garywood Assembly of God. Ralph retired from Celotex Cooperation after 42 years. Ralph leaves to carry on his legacy his wife, Dolores; sons, Steve and David Doles, daughter, Tabitha Waldrop and five grandchildren - Lindsey Allinder (Tony), Lauren Sox (Ryan) and Kendall, Hudson and Preston Waldrop. One great-grandson, Caden Allinder. His oldest grandson, Daniel Doles is in heaven waiting to greet his Papa Bear as he arrives. He is also survived by his brother Curtis Doles and numerous nieces and nephews. His sister Billie Adkins preceded him in death. Anyone who knew Ralph was aware of his great love for people as well as animals. If he saw a person or animal that he thought was hungry, he would drive to the nearest fast food restaurant and purchase food and take it back to them. Many people and dogs enjoyed hamburgers as Ralph's treat for them. His gentile and soft spirit will be missed by many. Services for Ralph will be held at Garywood Assembly of God on Monday, November 14 with the visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. and funeral at 11:00. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Keith Ellis and Rev. Jeff Leatherman officiating
We all loved Ralph at Celotex! My thoughts and prayers are with Dolores and family. There is only one Ralph and he is with God now!
