Raymond Lewis Burnette

Raymond Lewis Burnette, age 90, died June 9, 2016. Raymond was born on April 23, 1926 in Sulligent, Alabama in Lamar County. His parents were Robert Lee Burnette and Oma Jane South Burnette. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the Asian Pacific Theater during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in October 1946. On December 24, 1946 Raymond and Eulene Brown of Beaverton, Lamar County, Alabama were married. They remained married until Eulene's death in September, 2006. Raymond worked at U.S. Steel Ensley and Fairfield Blast Furnace for 34 years. Raymond was a member of the Dolomite Masonic Lodge and he and Eulene were members of the Dolomite Eastern Star. He was also a Deacon at Dolomite Baptist Church. He is predeceased by his wife; Eulene Brown Burnette. Sons; Ronnie Lee Burnette and Billy lewis Burnette. Sisters; Tezzie Lavelle Burnette, Glenda B. Sweatman (Jim), Robbie Perkins (Carnis), Margie Zales (Tommy). Brother; Gurley Milton Burnette. Survivors include his daughter; Patricia Ann Erkhart (Jim). Sons; Raymond Lewis Burnette Jr. (Debra) and Paul Ray Burnette. Sister; Imogene Weston (Joe). Grandchildren; Tracy Culver (Marc), Kelly Crawford, Amy Welford (Brian), Angie Burnette, Scott Norris (Jackie), Ashley Price (Adam) and Paul Ray Burnette Jr. Raymond leaves behind 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pall Bearers will be; Scott Norris, Marc Culver, Steve Zales, Adam Price and Brian Welford. Honorary Pall Bearers; Peyton Norris and Billy Crawford. Services for Mr. Burnette will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Sherrill officiating. Thank you to the staff of Legacy Nursing Home and Rehab in Pleasant Grove, Alabama. Also, thank you to the staf of New Beacon Hospice. A special thanks from the Burnette Family to all of PawPaw's girls at Legacy who took great care and exceptional care of him the past 8 years. To our Dad: Thank yoy for giving us life, providing for us, loving us and for the precious memories we have in our hearts. We love you and will miss you. Punkin, Rip and Pete.
