B.H. “Shine” Rice
July 24, 1923 – April 4, 2016
Beverly Hill Rice, 92, of Hueytown, Alabama, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, April 4, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise Tracy Rice; daughter, Linda Rice Maples; son, Jerry W. Rice; granddaughters, Ashley Maples (Allyn) Thames, Kristy Rice Keenum, Lynlee Maples (Kyle) Hudlow, Mackenzie Leigh Rice; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. After graduating from Minor High School in 1942, he served in the U. S. Navy’s Pacific Campaign during World War II. A graduate of Massey Business College, he worked for 35 years at U. S. Steel, retiring in 1983 as Supervisor of Production Planning. He was a member of Industrial City Baptist Church. Because of his many acquaintances in the ministry, in his later years he enjoyed worshipping at several area churches. His family extends deep gratitude to the staffs of Rittenhouse Senior Living, Brookdale Skilled Nursing, and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care and support. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, Saturday, April 9, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to a favorite charity or church.
