Peyton and Erin Spain

Deceased: 04/06/15

Peyton Christopher Spain, a Christmas present to his family, was born December 25, 1997, and died April 7, 2015, from an automobile accident. His sister, Erin Ashley Spain, born April 30, 1999, was also killed instantly in the accident on Monday, April 6, 2015. Both were students at Hueytown High School where they played on the competitive soccer teams. They were active members of Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church. Peyton and Erin were athletic, vivacious and outgoing. Erin had a ready smile and Peyton had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. They loved the water, the beach and Smith Lake. Peyton was an organ donor which was deemed life-saving in at least one situation. This gift was especially fitting since April is Donate A Life Month. There has been a tremendous outpouring of love, sympathy and support from friends, schools, other athletic programs and the greater community at large. National attention has been focused on these tragic deaths They leave behind to mourn their passing their father Christopher Spain of Sylvan Springs, grandparents Sarah G. Spain, Charles and Shirley Spain of Jasper, Roy and Linda Livery of Dora, great-grandmother Carrie Sherer of Jasper, aunts Sandy (Johnny) McPhaul of Sylvan Springs and Tina (Gary) Kizziah of Quinton, many special cousins and a multitude of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday April 11, 2015, from 10:00 until 2:00 at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, where they were active participants in the youth group. Memorial services will follow at the Church with Dr. Daven Watkins officiating. Internment will be at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. If desired donations may be made to the Spain Memorial Fund at BB&T or Hueytown High School Soccer Program.

I didn't know the children personally. Only from the voice of the mother that was very proud of them and who they were becoming as young adults. I can't even imagine the loss of the family and friends that knew them. It says in Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Prayers going up for all with broken hearts and questions at this time.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. "Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they have shared and the love they brought into our lives."~ Author Unknown

Please accept our condolence and you will be in our prayers. I met this young couple at their grandfathers (Charles Spain my cousin) house about four years ago. When I saw Peyton I had to look twice for she looked so much like my older sister. I guess genes are passed on from one generation to the next. I know the children will be missed by family and friends and they will be in our prayers.

Please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences for these two young adults. It always hurts when someone passes away, but for a parent to have to bury a child is heartbreaking. We do not know these two young people, We saw it in the Guest Book from Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Our prayers are going out to all of those listed as kin to these young people. God Bless You
